Video explaining EFT
from the National website

EFT can be understood in a couple different ways:

1. Traditional therapy tends to just name and rearrange your mental/emotional issues. EFT is a method that actually allows you to clear them out for good. Imagine for a moment that your mind is like a dirty house filled with traumas, negative emotions and beliefs, that have been piling up since childhood because until now you have had no cleaning or clearing tools. Maybe you have been to therapy and it has allowed you to name and walk around some of the piles of old stuff but nothing has really helped clean the mess. EFT is a tool to clear it out deeply, quickly and effectively.

2. EFT has also been referred to as an emotional form of acupuncture without needles. Ancient Chinese wisdom tells us that there are many energy stress points on the body. In EFT you tap on these points to release and clear negative emotional stress. This is a simple, elegant technique that anyone can use. The basic EFT process can actually be learned in just a few minutes.

Does this seem too good to be true? Well I thought so too the first time I heard about EFT. This all changed when I suspended my disbelief and tried it anyway. I soon began dissolving deep emotional issues from my past. Read my healing story. Also check out testimonials from my clients as well as experts from around the country who use EFT.

So what is it really?: EFT is a simple technique that balances the subtle energies in the body, known as meridians, to release negative emotion, stress and trauma. It launches off the EFT Discovery Statement which states...

"The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system."

In this context negative emotion can be anything that bothers you. Such as feelings like anger or fear. This also includes beliefs like "I'm a looser" or "I can't do anything right". Lastly it can refer to a memory that bothers you such as "the car crash" or "the time my dad hit my mom" or any other trauma.

Basically, while being aware of your issue EFT has you tap on well established energy meridian points on your body. Simply by being aware of your issue you bring the feelings associated with it into your energy system where they can be released through this short tapping procedure. The process is easy to memorize and is portable so you can do it anywhere.

In addition because our physical pains and diseases seem to be connected with our emotions EFT often works to get relief from physical issues as well. This is because of the second discovery of EFT...

"Our unresolved negative emotions are major contributors to most physical pains and diseases."

This common sense approach draws its power from (1) time-honored Eastern discoveries about subtle energy in the body that have been around for over 5,000 years and (2) Albert Einstein, who told us back in the 1920's that everything (including our bodies) is composed of energy. These ideas have been largely ignored by western healing practices and that is why EFT often works where nothing else will. As you will clearly see, conventional healing methods have overlooked the obvious. The EFT method is so effective even newcomers can get upwards of 50% success.

Try it on Everything

You will find that EFT is usually quite gentle and you can often achieve substantial relief with little emotional pain. This is not true for everyone, however. Some people's issues are so intense that the mere mention of them causes emotional pain. However, given time, even these are often resolved with EFT.

A small percentage of our population (best estimate is less than 3%) have serious emotional and physical disabilities and thus newcomers to EFT are advised to exercise common sense in this regard. While you can use EFT to generate impressive relief for the vast majority of people, some severe issues should be addressed only by a qualified practitioner.

"Even in the hands of most newcomers, EFT often achieves either
noticeable improvements or complete cessation of the client's problem. For those practitioners who learn the advanced [EFT] work, there are much higher success rates. Many skilled practitioners get measurable results over 80% of the time. In addition, the process is often rapid, long lasting and gentle and sometimes works when nothing else will."

As with any tool it takes time and additional skills to achieve the best results. However, often people can start getting results with EFT right away.

Tapping Points

The key to success with EFT is to be specific and persistent while trying it on any emotional or physical issue that is present for you. Newcomers are often able to get upwards of 50% success rate when diligent.
Now sometimes doing the tapping can be a lot to take in at once because it is somewhat unusual looking and may violate some of your beliefs about what is possible so just keep working on it. If you get stuck you can always make an appointment and we can work on the issue together. Don't be discouraged by this. Some issues are complex or confusing and it is sometimes challenging, impossible or not really advisable to act as client and practitioner for issues that have a lot of aspects or are very intense. However, often you can get very good results just by trying it yourself. Try it on everything!

For more detail I highly recommend downloading The EFT Manual. This manual is quite detailed and contains many case histories and ideas for being effective. EFT founder Gary Craig wants the world to have this wonderful and empowering technique. So much so that he has made it available for anyone to download this extensive manual for FREE on the EFT website. Click here
